Trekking In Ladakh
Ladakh is land of high passes on the border
of India & Tibet, also known as Little Tibet because of culture
and geographic similarities with Tibet and is dominated by Buddhist.
Ladakh is drained by the Indus River and its tributaries, including
the Zanskar River from Zanskar , the Shyok River from Karakoram
and the Suru River flowing from Pentse La. The Great Himalayan Range,
including the two highest peaks of Nun (7135m) and Kun (7087m),
forms the divide between Kashmir and Ladakh. The Ladakh Range extends
north of the Indus Valley. The Main pass, the Kardungla (5606m),
is the highest motorable road in the world. North of Ladakh is the
eastern Karakoram, with the Karakoram Pass providing the historic
trading routes between Leh and the markets of Khotan and kashgar
in Central Asia.
The another main atraction of the region is Zanskar Range, also
dominated by Buddhist culture. The Zanskar forms the backbone of
southern Ladakh. it includes several peaks over 6000m and is saperated
from the Great Himalayan Range by the Zanskar valley. it is breached
only once, wherre the zanskar River flows north creating a series
of Huge gorges before flowing into the Indus. Passes over the Zanskar
Range include the Kanji La and the Singge La. The Rubrang la also
traverses the Zanskar Range to the Markha Valley, a small fertile
valley between the zanskar Range and the snow-capped Stok Range
which lies immediately to the south of Leh and upper Indus Valley.
