About Dharmadam Island
Dharmadam Island (Green Island) is a small 2 hectare private island in Kannur district of Kerala, south India. It is 100 metres away from the mainland at Dharmadam. This island covered with Coconut Palms and dense bushes is a beautiful sight from the Muzhappilangad beach. During low tide, one can just walk to the island from the beach. It is surrounded by rivers and seas. Permission is required to enter this privately owned island. Dharmadam, earlier known as Dharmapattanam was a Buddhist stronghold.
Muzhappilangad
Muzhappilangad is a small coastal village in the Kannur district of Kerala, south India.
This village is renowned for its 5km long pristine beach. A long clean beach, its enchanting ambience invites you to swim. sunbathe or just lounge around. Black rocks protect Muzhappilangad from the currents from the deep, making its shallow water a swimmers paradise. Muzhappilangad is Kerala's only drive in beach which is about 5kms long. From Muzhappilangad you can see the Dharmadam island (Pacha Thuruth) just across the Arayakkandy river, a remarkable conjunction of beach and island.
The nearest town to Muzhappilangad is the town of Thalassery which is 7 kilometers
away. The District Headquarters Kannur is about 13 kilometers from Muzhappilangadu.
Muzhappilangadu is famous for "Thalappoli" A local festival
celebrated in the month of march in "Sree Koormba Temple" which
is a 3 day festival.
Dharmadam
Dharmadam is a small villege in Kannur District of Kerala, south India. This place is famous for - 100 year old Brenenn Government College and Dharmadam Island. Dharmadam was earlier known as Dharmapattanam and was previously a Buddhist stronghold.

Kannur
The City Centre is one of Kannur's largest shopping malls. It is located on Fort Road, adjacent to Kannur Railway Station and easily accessible from Kannur Town Municipal Bus Terminal. The City Centre houses some of the major shopping outlets like Alukkas Jewellery, Baskin Robbins, and Margin Free Market.
Kannur town - is a town and the administrative headquarters
of Kannur District. Kannur City - although just a few kilometres away, is different
from Kannur town, which houses the major shopping areas and business establishments.
Thalassery
Thalassery also known as Tellicherry, is a small town on the Malabar Coast of Kerala, in southern India. It is 21 km away from the district headquarters at Kannur. Tellicherry is the anglicised form of Thalassery.
The British established their presence in Kerala in 1682, when they obtained permission from the Vadakkilamkur Prince of Kolattunad, to settle at Thalassery. In the following years, the British presence in the state of Kerala strengthened. During this period, there were many organised revolts held by the natives of the region against the empire.
Among them was the revolt of 1704, that the natives of Thalassery organised, but this revolt was quickly crushed by the British forces due to its localised non-nationalistic nature.
How To Get There
Air: The nearest airport is at Karipur, Kozhikode (Calicut)
which is about 93 km south. The Mangalore airport is 170kms north of Kannur.
Rail: Kannur is an important railhead of the Southern Railways
and it is major railway station on Shornur-Mangalore line.
Road: An excellent road transport system connects Kannur to
all the major towns of South India (KSRTC: Kannur Ph: 707777). There are frequent
bus services from Mangalore, Bangalore, Kochi, Trivandrum and Kozhikode.
